Safety Patrol

The School Safety Patrol, in conjunction with the Canadian Automobile Association, is a non-profit program offered by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service where students ages 11 to 14 volunteer to help other students in crossing the roads safely or riding the school bus to and from school. Presently, we have twenty eight schools participating in the Safety Patrol program.

School liaison officers visit the schools interested in this program and provide proper training to the students volunteering.

The Patrollers

The safety patrollers of each school are invited to attend a variety of special activities just for them throughout the year. These activities include:

  • Swimming party sponsored by the John Rhodes Community Centre
  • Skating Party sponsored by the PeeWee Arena
  • Greyhound Hockey games sponsored by the Soo Greyhounds
  • The annual Ottawa Safety Patroller Jamboree

See the School Directory for a list of all schools in Sault Ste. Marie.
